Mr. Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, born on July 14, 1999, in Muradnagar, Cumilla, Bangladesh, is a notable student activist and currently serves as an adviser to the Interim government of Bangladesh. He is a key figure in the Anti-Discrimination Students’ Movement, which played the most significant role in the 2024 Bangladesh quota reform and non-cooperation movements, leading to the end of fascist regime through the resignation and fleeing of the then prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Mr. Asif completed his secondary education at Nakhalpara Hossain Ali High School in Dhaka and his higher secondary education at Adamjee Cantonment College, where he was a cadet sergeant in the BNCC (Bangladesh National Cadet Corps). He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Dhaka. He leads a simple life and is unmarried.
Mr. Asif’s activism began with his involvement in Dhaka University campus from 2018. As part of this, he led the movement of reforming the quota system in government job in 2018. He has been giving voice for a long time for the safety of road and so he actively participated in road safety movement in 2019. Out of his uprightness, he has been vehemently demanding justice for the murder of BUET student Abrar Fahad. He was found to be so vocal against various irregularities of Government Machineries which failed to relate and respect the priority of students and youth society. For his high voice against injustice and anomalies, he had been imprisoned several times during the fascist sheikh Hasina Regime. Not only that Mr. Asif along with his comrades protested against injustice and torture by fascist Government and their associate organizations. Of Late Mr. Asif organized the Anti-Discrimination Students’ Movement against indiscriminatory quota system in government jobs. This movement culminated into mass upsurge and toppled the fascist government following which significant political changes came up in Bangladesh. His leadership and dedication to social justice has earned him national recognition.
In August, 2024, Mr. Asif was appointed as an adviser to the interim government led by Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus. He currently serves as the Adviser of the Ministry of Labor & Employment and also the Ministry of Youth & Sports. His journey from a student leader to a key adviser rightly endorses his rapid rise and exceptional leadership potentials. His is also familiar as a good sportsman. He dedicates his life for welfare and noble cause of this valiant nation. His vision is to ensure justice and make Bangladesh a happy and prosperous country.
